Singer songwriter Jont fell into the music industry after having an keen interest in poetry as his own poetry evolved into writing songs.
But as well as working on new album release Supernatural he has also kept up his Unlit nights previewing new and upcoming singing talent.
I caught up with him to discuss the new record, Unlit and his new YouTube project The House We're In.
Well Supernatural is the product of waiting around for a long time to make a record and finally deciding it was time to get on with it and make it myself. I ended up recording on my own with just a couple of mics and some guitar takes in a studio, thinking it was my demos, and at the end of the day I listened to the recordings and my voice was better than it had ever been before and I thought these aren't demos this is the album.
I thought it was going to be an album that was going to be very sparse, just me on guitar and vocals and I would add a bit of cello and piano to make add some colour and make it easier for the listener, and then went over to Paris, where I was doing an Unlit, and I met a keyboard player called Bent Van Looy, who is in a band called Das-Pop, and he was fantastic.
So I did some rehearsals with him and I also fell in love at the same time with a girl that I met at the Unlit there, so it seemed like a good idea to be over in Paris a lot and make the rest of the album there. I went and had a rehearsal with Bent, and he was brilliant, I was looking for a cellist as well and my friend Lorenzo in Italy said: 'Oh I know this great cellist but she lives in Paris' and I was like 'ah'.
